Handmade Baby Shower Gifts: Pacifier/Toy Tether Tutorial

Completed tethers for a girl and a boy

I found this AMAZING TUTORIAL for making a universal pacifier clip and I knew this was the last thing I wanted to make for my baby shower gifts. It's super easy and can be used with more than just a pacifier. I loved how versatile it could be and how you could personalize it however you want. Visit THE TUTORIAL from See Kate Sew to see all the suggestions and examples. I wasn't able to do much with the ones I made, but next time I would definitely do super feminine ones for girls by adding ruffle and bows and more fun prints all around. This is a pretty straight forward tutorial, but I thought I'd share my pictures as well. Refer back to the original tutorial if you have any questions.

Things you'll need:

  • Fabric. You'll want this in a 3 inch by 10 inch rectangle. I used printed cotton leftover from another project, but you can also use wide ribbon and skip through the first two steps.
  • Ribbon or elastic. I used 3/8" grosgrain ribbon, but I think I would try using elastic next time so that this could work for a larger variety of things (i.e. sippy cups, toys, stuffed animals). For ribbon, you'll need 6 inches.
  • Suspender clip. I found mine at Joann's in their Notions section for $2.99 for a set of two. Use your 40% off coupon to save more.
  • Sewing machine and thread
Follow the steps in the pictures and you'll have a tether completed in no time at all. This project really only cost me the price of the suspender clip because I already had everything else at home.
