A Day in La Jolla, California

We stumbled upon this highly rated restaurant, Cody's La Jolla, on the cutest street on our way to La Jolla Cove

We had originally planned on only taking the kids to San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday and that I would go on Saturday while Andrew took the kids to the zoo. Plans completely changed though and we ended up at Comic-Con on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. (When the kids overheard plans for the zoo, they were both adamantly against going.) On Friday, however, we had a completely lazy morning before meeting up with one of my oldest and best friend, Fareine, for lunch and hanging out at La Jolla Cove.

Lunch at Cody's La Jolla

This day ended up being our only day of sightseeing in San Diego outside of Comic-Con. Since our hotel was actually in La Jolla, we were able to easily walk our way to the Cove. The restaurant, Cody's La Jolla, was a part of the cutest block of buildings and we could see the ocean from the outside patio. I don't even remember what I ate, but I definitely would go back there again.

Fun at La Jolla Cove

The section of the Cove we climbed into was a bit treacherous with the cliffs surrounding it, but the space at the bottom was worth it. It was relatively uncrowded where we were so we were able to just hang out and watch the kids play. Even though we didn't bring along any beach things, the kids were able to find friends who shared their sand toys.

Hanging out for the 4th time in 15 years

This chance encounter with Fareine was completely coincidental. She happened to be in the area for work and our schedules aligned enough to make it happen. We have known each other since third grade. After she moved away at the end of fifth grade, we've only seen each other a handful of times in 15 years: once in 7th grade, when she was a bridesmaid at my wedding, when I was a bridesmaid at her wedding, and then now. It's a miracle we were able to keep in touch on opposite sides of the country well before the internet came in handy. I can't think of a more perfect place to meet up once again.
