2025 was a rough year. I had a lot of time on my hands, but I didn’t have a lot of extra energy. I was hoping to restart my handmade wardrobe, since a lot of what I previously made no longer fits, but I wasn’t able to give it my full attention. That resulted in sporadic makes throughout the year.

Patterns I Purchased in 2025
I’ve been curbing my pattern purchases for years now and this year was no different. The majority of what I added to my collection were freebie patterns. I made most of the ones I purchased right away, but still ended up with some that I didn’t end up using.
Clothing Patterns
- Ballet Bow Skirt from Matchy Matchy Sewing Club. Freebie. I used this pattern for the fabric I got in a collab with Nomura Tailor. It wasn’t my original plan for the fabric, but I thought this would better after I saw the fabric in person.
- Wavy Quilted Vest from Matchy Matchy Sewing Club. Freebie. I pulled out all my scraps to make this, but then I changed my mind after I admitted that I don’t wear vests.
- Ginkgo Pinafore from Madswick. I purchased this pattern to make my birthday outfit. I used a linen/rayon blend from my stash. I love the look, but the fabric I used is heavier than I’d like and I would use a different fabric next time around.
- Baby East Romper from Lowland Kids. I purchased and made this pattern on the same day. I wanted to make a baby item and this fit the bill. I used a jersey knit from my stash.
- Aims Blouse by Seamwork. Freebie. I saw this freebie being offered on Instagram so I grabbed it. I think it would be a great costume staple in the future.
- Easton Jacket from Seamwork. Freebie. Another one offered on Instagram, this looks like a great drop shoulder jacket pattern. I’d love to make another jacket and this is a contender.

Accessory Patterns
- Witch Hat from Heather Handmade. Freebie. One day in October, I decided I really wanted to make a witch hat with some festive fabric from my stash. I found this pattern which is simple and quick. Unfortunately, the sizing isn’t what I expected (or I didn’t measure my head correctly), because it’s slightly too big for me.
- BFF Bag from Havin’ Sew Much Fun. I had been eyeing this pattern since it launched. When Loni offered coupon codes to get this for free months ago, I jumped on it. I hope to make it eventually. It looks like a great on-the-go size.
- Bag patterns from Sotak. I purchased a few patterns to make-to-sell and for gifts. There was a discount when buying more so that definitely drew me in. So far, I’ve only made one of the patterns I purchased.

Quilt Patterns
- Petite Plaid Quilt from Lo & Behold Stitchery. I purchased this with a quilt kit, which made it so much easier to start a new project. I don’t enjoy making all the decisions that are needed when it comes to quilting and this kit was an end-of-year project for me. I finished the quilt relatively quickly and proceeded to look at more quilt patterns.
- Patchwork Squares Quilt from Lo & Behold Stitchery. Freebie. There are a lot of free quilt patterns and this is just one of the ones I downloaded to see what supplies were needed. I didn’t end up starting any new quilts, but I did purchase more quilt kits.
- Knitted Blooms Quilt from Lo & Behold Stitchery. I purchased more quilt kits with this pattern, but have yet to start on them. The original plan was to make one for holiday gifts, but I ended up focusing my energy on other things instead.

Patterns I Made Again
After initially starting my handmade wardrobe, where I made everything I could get my hands on, I’ve learned that I don’t need to chase a new pattern if I’ve already found one that I love. I’m a creature of comfort and familiarity, especially when my energy levels are low.
- Bisque Trousers from Vivian Shao Chen. I made this pattern a second time with different fabric and sizing in hopes of getting it to work better for me. I shared a review here.
- Laurence Top from Vivian Shao Chen. This was a new pattern for me this year. I ended up making it 4 times, with one being a hacked puffy sleeve version. The review for my first version is here.
- Unfolding Jacket from Wiksten. One of my most worn makes of 2024 was my reversible poppy jacket and I knew I wanted to make a second one. Read details here.
- York Pinafore from Helen’s Closet. I made my zillionth version and shared details here.
- Pocket Skirt from Peppermint Magazine. Freebie. I used this pattern for a fabric collab with Nomura Tailor. I’ve made this skirt several times now and love how smart it is with fabric use. I only need 1.5 yards.
- Reynolds Top from Helen’s Closet. My previous go-to woven tank top pattern made another appearance to match the skirt above. Another great scrapbuster.
- Free Range Slacks from Sew House Seven. I pulled out my beloved woven pant pattern once again to make a linen pair. Read about my first four versions here.
- Orchid Midi Dress from Chalk and Notch. I made my second one to wear to a wedding. See the first one I ever made, that I still love, here.
- Little Pixie Hat from Isee Fabric. I made two to go with the baby romper I made.
- Woodland Dopp Kit from Klumhouse. I made a few more to have on hand.

Patterns I Made For the First Time
For patterns in my collection that I have yet to make, I only pulled out one to make that I didn’t make multiples of.
- Wave Float Top from Matchy Matchy Sewing Club. I bought this pattern in 2024 and finally made it in 2025 to match the above Free Range Slacks. I’m still on the fence about the fit so I haven’t made another version.

Fabric Purchased
I have a hard time tracking this metric, but I don’t think I purchased a lot of new fabric since I didn’t do a lot of shopping this year.
I made a farewell visit to Joann and used up most of that fabric. I still have some pieces left that were more spontaneous purchases. We’ll see if I ever find a project for them.
I did one fabric collaboration with Nomura Tailor and used all the fabric to make and share on Instagram already. I haven’t had many occasions to wear most of those items yet, but it has been an unusual year for me, and I may find more occasions to wear them in the future. Learn more about this Japan-based fabric store from my first visit.

Knitting Projects
I started knitting socks this year! I purchased the Sock Project book by Summer Lee at the end of 2024 and started making a sock right away. It was daunting at first with the learning curve. I had yet to finish one sock by March, but after completing that first one, I managed to finish 4 different pairs before winter. I highly recommend that book for beginners. I enjoyed going through the patterns and having them all handy when I was ready to start a new pair.

Crochet Projects
I was half a second away from purchasing a goose plushie online for a new baby when I decided to learn to make one myself. I know I don’t have to make everything, but it was important to me that I at least try with my basic crocheting skills. Though I struggled to read the pattern and had to restart many times, I eventually figured it out and made a presentable goose. I ended up making two so I could practice the pattern more. I used the freebie pattern from Crochet Crochey.

Miscellaneous Projects
I found different ways to stay busy this year and shared everything on Instagram. Sometimes in my stories, and sometimes on my grid.
- Decluttering my craft supplies.
- Board game storage. See it here.
- Boutonnieres and corsage.
- Clay garden markers.
- Partially finished an outfit inspired by Taylor Swift’s engagement pic. See it here.
- Catbus Halloween decoration. See it here.
- Duck feet shoe covers for Scrooge McDuck costume. See it here.
- Heat transfer vinyl projects.

Year Recap
In total, I made six tops, one dress, two pinafores, two pairs of pants, two skirts, one jacket, one costume hat, one baby romper, two baby hats, one quilt, and a bunch of bags to sell/gift. I also finished knitting 4 pairs of socks, crocheted a couple of goose plushies, and worked on random projects throughout the year.
Looking back, I got a lot more done than I remembered. Hopefully, more of my projects will end up in blog form this year.
Thanks for reading!
