I am a warm weather sewist through and through, and always go back to my favorite patterns to wear and make. The York Pinafore by Helen’s Closet is one of absolute favorites so I decided to make another one with some leftover double gauze.

York Pinafore
I’ve made a ton of York Pinafore at this point, including these three, several apron versions, hacked versions, and more that I’ve shared on my Instagram page. It’s the pattern that first taught me how to make/use bias tape and I find it a very comforting sew.
For this version, I used leftover double gauze from my Wiksten Unfolding Jacket. The double gauze was a bit shifty to work with, but I love how comfy it is and can’t wait to see how squishy it gets with more washes.

Sizing + Mods
I made size 6, based on my hips, in view b. I considered grading for my #WaistBiggerThanHip, but there’s enough ease that I decided not to. I love this view with the kangaroo pocket, but haven’t made another one since my first make. The first version I ever made remains a favorite, though it’s slightly too small now, so I’m glad I finally made another version.
I also shortened 2.5″ in total with 1″ at both of the shorten lines at the bodice and 0.5″ at the hem.

Adventure Tank
I paired the pinafore with one of my first knit makes: the Adventure Tank by Fancy Tiger Crafts. I always say I need to make more of these so maybe I’ll actually do it this year. The company is no longer around, but you might be able to find copies of this pattern around. I think I made XS.
For pattern alternatives, look for a muscle tank style knit sewing pattern.
You can find all the York Pinafores I’ve made on Instagram as I slowly add all of my makes to this blog. Have you a made a Pinafore yet?
